Peace and Harmony
IRENE
On a personal level, Peace means a state of calm and quiet, without disturbance, agitation or conflict. From a sociological point of view, Peace is the harmony between the individuals who form a group. If it does not imply the absence of conflict, it means finding a solution to relational difficulties.
Psychologically, Irene describes a situation that is peaceful, enthusiastic and positive.
Spiritually, without yet appointing it (see next paragraph), let us quote the expressions ‘Peace ymin’ or ‘Rest in peace’ to demonstrate our subject.
In Indian philosophy Peace is the situation in which we all find ourselves at birth and this is the situation we seek to find again. In Yoga Sutres is called samâdi (samadi): sama = same, and adi = origin. In the book “Yoga Sutras” (a treatise on the philosophy of Yoga – 6th century), Patanjali explains that the birth of the mind is the beginning of a warp of images and thoughts. That is why, as early as the second Sutra, Patanjali presents the following basic principle of fundamental principle: “Chitta Vritti Nirodha – Cheetah Vritis Niroda” (stopping mental fluctuations), peace of mind. This great calm should allow the mind to welcome the greatest possible thought, i.e. the absolute, God or the Creator (called “Pousa” in Yoga Sutres).
The peace of the soul, before eternal rest, is when the mind no longer reflects the world that surrounds us but the Puriusa. The soul is the spark of life, the vital principle that animases us and extinguishes – according to some – after death and is driven to hell, purgatory or paradise for Christians or that follows the cycle of deaths and re-births according to the Hindu karma theory. From the Latin word anima that animases the soul and thus animas every natural element such as a mountain (hence the word winds). At death the soul abandons the body which becomes dormant. The soul, in Indian philosophy, is eternal. The search for peace of the soul marks the end of the cycle of re-births, which involves the search for a peaceful mind.
ARMONIA
Peace is, among other things, the absence of conflict because we are all entirely with Bursa. This absence of conflict corresponds to Harmony.
Having Harmony means having good relationships, understanding, agreeing with other people or with our different tendencies and expectations, as well as with our environment. “We are looking in the same direction together,” Writes Saint-Expery.
Let’s think for a moment about the following little daily problem: Lose weight or eat this chocolate cake? Take care of my health or succumb to the pleasure of taste? Do I suffer a oppression or do I prefer immediate enjoyment? One solution would be to find a more desire that would meet these contradictory expectations. In our example it could be the desire to live longer in order to seek and find lasting peace…
The search for true Harmony in Yoga is the search for the greatest of all desires, the primary desire that animases the soul from its first birth, i.e. to return to the pre-birth state (a desire that is then overshadowed by our constant subsequent desires!). To be free from our attachments…
In the philosophy of Yoga, finding Harmony means agreeing with our desire for Peace, thus meeting all our expectations. But let us be careful: “I wish” does not mean “find” Harmony. “I find Harmony” means “I find Harmony in everyday life”. Spiritual searching, beyond a morning practice, is a constant commitment. Therefore, Harmony lies in our expectations, in our feelings, in our family, in our environment, between saying and doing so…

Why is it so hard to find Irene?
That’s the nature of the mind! Once you turn on the radio, it broadcasts continuously (we only miss the “mute” button to stop it all). Our sensory perceptions are outward-looking. They hire without stopping millions of information that the mind constantly analyzes. We even go on at night. Dreams are a good example.
So would it be against nature to find Peace?
Let us remember that Indian philosophy is based on the cycle of re-births. It is the soul that migrates from one body to another, seeking liberation from this cycle. Philosophy tells us that it is not necessary to wait for the end of the cycle to achieve this liberation and therefore it is not against nature to seek in this life the Peace of the soul.
Why is it so difficult to find Harmony?
For the pleasure of the world that surrounds us, on the one hand, contains greed and, on the other hand, revulsion. The problem is that as pleasure is temporary, we seek the repetition of all pleasant experiences and avoid unpleasant situations. And here, we’re talking about the nature of people. Pleasure, revulsion and greed (the three major categories of emotions according to Patanjali) constantly alternate (we love our cat, we drive her away, we call her again). In addition, we live with our achievements and relive every experience in the light of the previous ones (something that directs our choices towards greed/revulsion). It’s like we have filters that prevent us from seeing things at a new look. On the one hand, we record our own reactions and on the other we record family, social and cultural limitations (not to mention the previous karma…). From the models within us, we see a rushed reality through a layer of past desires and interpretations – internal and external. Thus, it is difficult to rediscover the root of our primary desire, the harmony of our birth: to rediscover the peace that we have forgotten, that is hidden. It is a quest that seems impossible to us and yet the treasure is in there within us, even if the primordial experience is no longer accessible.
MEASURES FOR THE RECOVERY OF IRENE AND ARMONIA
How to rediscover Peace and Harmony; how to fight against the agitation of the mind on the one hand and the constant emotional tensions on the other?
The philosophy of Yoga allows for a modification of the mental field.
The role of concentration and meditation(Duana)is: to prepare the mind in such a way as to allow it to receive something different. This meditation will bring Peace. Diana will help reduce internal conflicts by opening the mind – the larger the space, the more likely she will be to accept a peaceful feeling.
An annoying feeling, on the other hand, will shut the mind. Only the path of satisfaction offers the necessary opening. When we are angry, for example, we focus on that anger (hence the difficulty of changing this situation). Nothing else can penetrate our minds. When we are happy, there is enough room to receive other experiences.
Therefore, With Diana the ground is modified so that the riots become incompatible. More specifically, through Diana it is achieved to maintain an “object” in one’s mental field, an object that will not awaken any image and stimulate any thought. Therefore, the only possible experience will be Irene or Bursa. Duana (temporarily) removes all ties that connect us to the apparent world (posting): withdraws the filters we use to perceive the world, withdraws greed and revulsion.
Use the mind in a different way to think differently…
